From the neighborhoods near Sylvan Beach to the newer sections off Highway 146 — remodeling and flooring built for homes near the water.
La Porte sits on Galveston Bay, and that proximity to water changes what we recommend. Humidity is higher, seasonal swings are sharper, and the wrong flooring choice will telegraph it within a couple of years — gapping in winter, cupping in summer. When La Porte customers come into the showroom, the conversation usually starts with what will actually hold up here rather than what looks best in a catalog photo.
For homes closer to the bay we tend to steer people toward luxury vinyl plank or porcelain tile in the spaces that take the most abuse. LVP is fully waterproof and dimensionally stable, so it does not react to humidity the way solid wood does. Porcelain is completely impervious. That does not mean hardwood is off the table — engineered hardwood handles moisture swings far better than solid, and plenty of La Porte homes have it installed successfully. It comes down to which rooms, and what is underneath.
Luxury vinyl plank and porcelain tile through kitchens, baths, entryways and living areas — the finishes that hold up closest to the bay.
Complete tear-out and rebuild with porcelain surrounds and new vanities. Moisture-resistant from the substrate up.
Fabuwood cabinetry, quartz countertops, tile backsplash and new flooring, coordinated as one project.
Larger renovations where flooring, kitchen and bathrooms all get addressed together rather than piecemeal over several years.
Everything is viewable in person at 6340 Spencer Hwy #120, Pasadena.
